Six Years On, Lottie Woad’s Huxley Green Is Still Helping Her Game

From lock down practice to preparation for the world stage, a family investment continues to deliver.

For Lottie Woad, the journey to the top of golf has included countless hours of putting practice just steps from her back door.

Installed at the Woad family home in 2020, her Huxley Golf putting green offered a place to practice during lock down, after college and through the winter—even by torchlight. Six years later, it continues to support her game, with a recent Huxley refresh leaving it looking and playing like new.

Lottie said:

“I was very fortunate that my parents installed our Huxley green in 2020. It meant that I had a brilliant putting surface to practice my putting during the Covid-related restrictions during 2020/21.

“I also had a great green to use throughout the winter / bad weather. I could also easily practice in the evening after college, using torchlight on winter evenings. It was great for my development to be able to work on my putting all year round.”

Her father, Nick, originally commissioned the green to give Lottie the freedom to practice whenever she wanted. What began as a family investment in her development has remained a valuable resource as she has progressed to become one of the world’s leading golfers.

For Lottie, the benefits extend to any keen golfer looking to improve:

“If you’re a keen golfer, with a strong desire to improve, and you’re in the position to be able to get a Huxley green, I would strongly recommend doing so. It would provide you with a year-round realistic surface on which to practice your putting.”

Huxley Golf returned to the family home in 2026 to carry out maintenance and refresh the green, giving the well-used practice facility a new lease of life.

Nick said:

“The refresh of our green undertaken by Huxley has made it exactly the same as when it was installed over six years ago, they did a great job.”

Crucially, its performance has stood the test of time:

“The green surface runs as quick and true as it did when we first got the green.”

Returning home between summer events, Lottie was equally pleased:

“It was a great surprise when I got home to see our green looking good as new. It was great to have it to practice on before heading to Evian.”

Six years of practice. One consistent putting surface. For the Woad family, the Huxley green continues to deliver a lasting home advantage.
