How to get the most out of your golf game in time for summer.
Here are 5 tips to improve your golf game in time for the summer holidays that you can implement at home or on the course.
It’s important to keep working on your golf putting skills. Honing these skills are crucial for a good game of golf. Spend a couple of hours practising your short game. Make sure to also put in some hours on the putting green.
If you don’t already have one, you may want to consider purchasing a putting green. At Huxley Golf, we have a selection of home putting greens, which can be used indoors or outdoors for your convenience.
If you don’t yet have a pre-shot routine, this is the perfect time to create one. Keep working on it until it becomes a habit. Choose a shot, choose a club, choose a target, trial a practice swing and then hit.
If you’re practising at home, it can be helpful to use a mirror to make sure that you are aligning your putter accurately and that it stays on the right path. It’s also good practice to change the angle of your putts to switch up your routine and stop you from becoming a rusty player. You can practise using our selection of wide ranging and durable golf mats. You can also use our home golf net to iron out your golf routine and for practising your drives and long shots.
In terms of warm ups, look for specific warm-up exercises to do before each round and give yourself enough time at the golf course to implement. As a bare minimum, we’d recommend focussing on improving your flexibility which will lead to improved swings and help your overall golf game’s longevity. Stretching, yoga and pilates are beneficial movements that can aid you with increasing your flexibility and range of motion. Perhaps make it a mini goal to source out a class you can trial or look up some movements on YouTube.
Whether you’re an amateur, or a more seasoned player, we all likely have plenty of things we need to work on to improve our golf game. Rather than multitasking, the key to getting better fast is working on one thing at a time. Give your full attention to a particular weakness during each session and concentrate on improving this before moving onto the next thing.
